Gas burner service for a 3-way fridge involves a thorough inspection and cleaning of the burner assembly, jet and the chimney to ensure safe and efficient operation.

This work in New Zealand must be carried out by a certified gas fitter due to the need to disconnect and reconnect gas lines, when completed a gas safety certificate will be issued covering the work carried out.
The steps involved as follows.
-The gas supply is turned off.
- External vents are removed to access the rear of the fridge and burner assembly
-The burner cover, heat shield, and burner assembly are removed. The gas feeder pipe will be disconnected. The thermocouple and sparker will also be disconnected, all parts will be inspected for damage and corrosion.
-The burner unit is stripped and the jet removed, all parts are thoroughly cleaned, including the gas feeder pipe. Extreme care is taken when cleaning the jet so not to alter the jet orifice size and cause an incorrect gas-air ratio, which could result in a poor flame and a safety hazard.

-The chimney and associated parts are cleaned to reduce the build up of soot and rust etc, this may not always be possible due to accessibility and whether the fridge would need to be removed, this would be assessed at time of servicing.
-All parts are reassembled and refitted, the burner is lit and the flame is checked, this should be a bright blue. The system is checked for gas leaks and the gas pressure is tested and adjusted (where possible).
- To confirm it is cooling correctly, the fridge will then be run on gas, ideally this would be done overnight as three way gas fridges take a long time to cool. (Approximately 4 - 5 hours to reach temperature).
Once all these processors are completed and the fridge performs as expected, a Gas Safety Certificate for the work done will be issued.
Approximate cost for this service is between $370.00 - $415.00 inc gst.
