Important Operating Instructions: Freezer Flap & Ice Conditions

Follow these guidelines carefully to avoid damage to your ice box freezer flap:

1. Do NOT Force Open the Freezer Flap If Iced Up
If you notice significant ice buildup around the edges of the freezer flap or if the flap is stuck frozen to the icebox wall:
  • STOP: Do not attempt to pull, pry, or force the flap open. This will likely break the plastic pins and affect the flap mechanism;
  • DEFROST FIRST: The icebox must be manually defrosted before the flap can be safely opened. Follow your manual's instructions for defrosting, which usually involves unplugging the unit and allowing the ice to melt naturally.

2. Do NOT Close the Main Door On The Flap (Ensure Proper Seating)
When closing the main refrigerator door, always visually confirm that the smaller freezer compartment flap is fully closed and properly seated before the main door closes:
  • The main door closing on an ajar or protruding freezer flap will snap the pins, causing permanent damage that allows warm air to leak in and rendering the flap unusable.
  • Ensure the freezer flap is snugly in its proper position before releasing the main door.
